How the generations work

You choose a Starting Person. This may be you or somebody else. The Starting Person is not counted as one of the five generations.

Generation 1: Parents
Generation 2: Grandparents
Generation 3: Great-grandparents
Generation 4: Great-great-grandparents
Generation 5: Three-times-great-grandparents

What you receive

• Key facts about the siblings of direct ancestors where available
• Three professionally printed and bound paperback copies

The direct ancestral research potentially covers up to 62 people. The amount of information found will depend on the availability, accuracy and survival of historical records.

Sibling research

Where records allow, the book will also include key facts about the siblings of direct ancestors:

• Full name
• Birth or baptism date and place
• Marriage date and place, and spouse’s name
• Death date and place
• Occupation or other notable facts

This package does not trace every sibling’s children, descendants, spouse’s ancestry or complete census history.

Documents within the book

Selected historical birth, marriage, death, census and other relevant documents may be reproduced within the book where available and appropriate.

The package does not include a separately updated Digital Family Tree Journal. The digital journal and the professionally printed book are separate five-generation products.

Living people and consent

We require consent from every living person who will be researched or included in the family history. Research involving living people cannot begin until the necessary consent has been received.

What happens after ordering?

We will email you a questionnaire requesting details about the Starting Person, your family and any information or documents you already hold. We will also explain how to provide the required consent for living people.

Delivery timescale

We aim to deliver your completed books within eight weeks. If we believe it will take longer, we will let you know by email.

Delivery and additional copies

UK delivery is included in the £800 price.

Customers outside the United Kingdom should contact us before ordering so that we can provide a separate delivery quote.

The package includes three copies. Additional copies of the same completed book can be arranged after purchase for £20 each, plus any applicable overseas delivery costs.

Need more copies? If you have had a four- or five-generation book prepared by Kith & Kin, you can order extra printed copies of your completed book for £25 each. They are printed as originally prepared, with no new research or changes.
