How the generations work

You choose a Starting Person. This may be you or somebody else. The Starting Person is not counted as one of the five generations.

Generation 1: Parents
Generation 2: Grandparents
Generation 3: Great-grandparents
Generation 4: Great-great-grandparents
Generation 5: Three-times-great-grandparents

What you receive

• Research into the Starting Person’s direct ancestral line across five generations
• A five-generation pedigree chart
• Birth, marriage and death findings where available
• Census findings for direct ancestors where available
• Source references and relevant next steps
• A Digital Family Tree Journal updated with the research findings, providing a lasting record that you can continue expanding

The research potentially covers up to 62 direct ancestors. The amount of information found will depend on the availability, accuracy and survival of historical records.

Original documents

Digital or printed copies of original birth, marriage, death and census records are not included.

After receiving your completed research, you can request digital copies of any available documents separately by replying to your results email. We will confirm availability and cost before sending you a separate payment link.

This package does not include research into the siblings of direct ancestors. Sibling research and selected historical documents are included in our professionally printed five-generation family-history book package.

Living people and consent

We require consent from every living person who will be researched or included in the family tree. Research involving living people cannot begin until the necessary consent has been received.

What happens after ordering?

We will email you a questionnaire requesting details about the Starting Person and any information you already hold. We will also explain how to provide the required consent for living people.

Delivery

We aim to deliver your completed Digital Research Journal by email within six weeks. If we believe it will take longer, we will let you know by email.

This is a digitally delivered genealogy research service. No physical product will be posted.
